6 Tips to do Today for Successful Website Branding
Looking to improve your website’s branding? As a website is a company’s primary marketing tool, ensuring brand clarity on every page is essential to converting visitors into clients.
Here are 6 branding tips to follow when building or rebuilding your website:
1. Make It All About Them
While it can be hard for a business to look at its own site from the visitor’s vantage point, it’s critical to ‘walk in the customer’s shoes:’
- What services do you offer?
- Why should they trust you?
- Share samples of your work/product
It’s good to remember that visual design has great power to differentiate you in the marketplace. Colors speak volumes: blue conveys trust; red means bold – but too much conveys aggression. So, use design effectively.
2. Don’t Brag. Serve
The goal of site content should be how you fix a customer’s problem, not how awesome you are at doing it. Clearly demonstrate the value they are getting (ex: greener grass, happier kids, more free time, etc).
3. It’s a Website, Not an Expedition
Your site layout should be easy to navigate. Use buttons, navigation bars, and well-thought-out visitor journey practices. Be sure your visitors don’t get bogged down looking for what they need. This may sound easy to do, but making something look easy takes a plan. Amazon and Netflix work hard to make their sites user-friendly.
4. Focus on One Action
Think about the one major action you want web visitors to take. Then make sure you are leading them right to that action. For example, if it’s to make an appointment, contact you for information, or sign up for a newsletter, make it easy and straightforward.
Don’t overwhelm with too many actions – they will leave the site. Simplify it and they will stay.
5. Keep it Simple
Make navigating the site easy. That means making menus and dropdowns clear, not clever. Make finding and contacting you easy. If there is a storefront or office, list the address. Place the phone number where people can see it everywhere – and make it big. If you are selling products from your site, the checkout process should be easy.
6. Let Social Shine
Using social media? Clearly show the links on your website. Visitors often review a company’s social media pages to learn more about your mission and practices, plus read what others are saying. Social media helps keep visitors engaged and more apt to do business with you.
