Do Not Become a COVID-19 Expert – Just Be You
As marketing professionals, we are hearing many questions from business owners and leaders about what they should say to their clients right now during these sensitive times. Here’s a few tips on what your clients want to hear…
Leave the medical advice to the professionals. Instead, be who you are – an expert in your industry. Help how you can. Share what you know. Some examples that come to mind:
- An accountant sharing links to to SBA loan applications or explanations of the CARE Act
- A catering site extending the dates on their deposit refund policy
- Walgreen’s offering free deliveries on prescriptions
- Staples offering free deliveries on all orders, regardless of size
- Restaurants offering take-out and deliveries on orders
Show you care. Reach out to clients, vendors and colleagues by phone or email. In this unsettled time, checking in to let someone know you are thinking about them is doubly important.
Here’s what your customers want to hear:
- Updates on your services/products – is it business ‘as usual,’ delayed or halted?
- Your refund or cancellation policy
- Changes to typical services
- Answers to common questions
- Next steps you will take
Treat your clients and vendors the way you would like to be treated. Remember, we’re all in this together.
