Are Your Customers Thinking About You?

Are Your Customers Thinking About You?

Here’s a little marketing reality check: your customers probably aren’t thinking about your business nearly as often as you’re thinking about them.

And that’s OK.

Most people aren’t ready to buy exactly when you’re ready to sell. They may like your company, trust your work and fully intend to call you someday – but “someday” can easily turn into six months from now.

That’s why staying in touch helps.

A regular e-newsletter gives you a reason to show up in someone’s inbox without always saying, “Buy from us.”

The goal isn’t to make every newsletter produce an immediate sale.

Here’s some things you can talk about: you can share a helpful tip. Answer a common question. Highlight something new. Introduce a team member. Share a success story. Offer a little advice. Remind people about a service they may have forgotten you provide.

The goal is to stay familiar.

Because when the need finally does come up, you want your business to be one of the first names that comes to mind.

Newsletters are especially valuable for businesses with longer sales cycles or services people only need occasionally. Your customer may not need you today – but their neighbor might. Their company might. Their daughter might. Or they may need you three months from now.

If you’ve stayed visible, useful and connected, you’re much more likely to be remembered.

Good marketing isn’t always about pushing harder.

Sometimes it’s simply about showing up consistently enough that when the timing is right, your customer already knows who to call.
